I earned my bachelor's degree with a double major in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Emporia State University. I also have a master's degree in Reading and Math from Southern Illinois University. I have been a K-6 educator for the past three decades, and have been tutoring students for the past twenty-five years. I particularly enjoy tutoring younger students in subjects like English reading, writing, phonics, literature, and math, which are essential building blocks for academic success. I enjoy getting to know my students' strengths, weaknesses, and preferred learning methods, as this helps me develop an individualized tutoring strategy for him or her. I believe in creating unique learning plans for each student, as no two students learn alike. I am a passionate educator and love to bring clarity to subjects students previously found challenging. I incorporate fun and educational activities in every session, and keep students motivated by celebrating their achievements! I find great satisfaction in watching my students gain academic confidence. When I'm not tutoring, I like to spend time with my grandchildren, and I love to read.
